Las Vegas seniors hurt by shortages as providers search for wheelchairs, walkers | COVID-19 – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas (FOX5)-Elderly is the latest American group to suffer from a supply chain-led shortage, and one group of Las Vegas Valley providers has a tremendous job of getting a pedestrian or wheelchair. Say that.

“There is a shortage of walkers, canes, crutches and hospital beds,” said Dr. David Mafie of Accelerated Home Health Care, all due to a lack of aluminum.

The lack of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine and ventilator is also a challenge for the elderly who need equipment to breathe.

Dr. Mafia said staff are “creatively working” to meet the demands of ordering much in advance and accepting donations from community members, ex-patients and their families.

The way to avoid the shortage is to prevent the need for walkers, crutches and wands.

“Our nurses and therapists educate patients to pay more attention, heaven is forbidden and they experience falls,” he said.

Contact Accelerated Home Health Care to donate walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, wands, CPAP machines, and ventilators. The address is 9494W. Flamingo Rd. , Suite102. The phone number is 702-832-5810.
