Lauren Boebert apologizes for suicide bomber, anti-Muslim comments about Ilhan Omar – Denver, Colorado

Denver, Colorado 2021-11-26 15:50:30 –

Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert apologized on Twitter after her video suggesting that she may be a suicide bomber disseminated on Thanksgiving’s social media site on Friday morning.

Born in 2020 to represent the Third Parliamentary District in western Colorado, he apologized for “everyone in the Islamic community I offended.” She added that she contacted Omar’s office in the hope of speaking directly with her.

“There are many policy differences that should be focused on without this unnecessary distraction,” Bobert tweeted.

Bobert has a history of using anti-Islamic languages in Congress as an attack on Democrats. She has repeatedly referred to Omar and Muslim US Congressman Rashida Tlaib as members of the “Jihad Corps,” including comments made on the house floor.

The clip, distributed Thursday, took that rhetoric to a new level.

Tweeted by the account @PatriotsTakes, this clip shows Bobert talking to a group on a small stage in front of the American flag. She told the crowd that she and her staff were on the Capitol elevator when she saw police officers running to catch the door before it closed. When the policeman couldn’t get on the elevator, Bobert said she turned around to see Omar next to her in the elevator.

“And I said,’Well, she doesn’t have a backpack, we should be okay,'” Bobert cracked. Lines suggesting that Omar might have been carrying explosives attracted laughter and applause from the crowd.

This clip elicited a quick response from Omar, representing the 5th Parliamentary District of Minnesota, including Minneapolis.

On Thursday, Omar was composed of an elevator story, and Bober tweeted that he was a “buffoon” looking down at Omar every time he saw it at the Capitol. On Friday, Omar continued to tweet that Republican Speakers Kevin McCarthy and Nancy Pelosi were asked to take disciplinary action against Bobert.

“It’s no laughing matter to say I’m a suicide bomber,” Omar tweeted in part. “Islamic prejudice has no place in Congress.”
