Colorado Springs — El Paso County parks have received special attention to keep them beautiful. It’s all part of “Leaveno Trace Hot Spot Week”. Educational events are held in two local parks on Friday morning, and there are some fun events to learn more on Friday night and this weekend.

On Friday morning, the Stratton Meadows Open Space and Palmer Park were selected as “hotspots” by the “Leaveless Center for Outdoor Ethics.” The crew repaired a trail near the pavilion in the lazy land of Palmer Park, and another group learned how to do bird watching without disturbing wildlife habitat. The Colorado Springs andrec division worked with the organization to provide a way for the community to help.

“Take people here to contribute, clean up trash, repair trails, and clean up some of the trails that shouldn’t exist where they are damaging vegetation and wildlife habitats. “Anyone who can really learn” “Leave No Trace” is the person we are looking for, and as you know, please take these things and spread them widely “, Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics Bruce Esplin, a trainer at the company, said. “All of our natural spaces throughout the country are more or less loved to death by being there, so education of traces with encouragement and work from those who are here today. And don’t leave, and throughout our hotspot weekend, we’ll see many positive effects. “

There are about 10 events happening throughout the weekend for all ages. Includes community work days, nature photo hikes, and “going out” nights. One of the events will take place at Manito Brewing from 5 pm to 8 pm to discuss maintenance of the Manitou Incline and the trash left by people.

The organization selects 10 locations nationwide each year to focus on outdoor education.Click for more information on the event here.
