Portland, Oregon (KOIN) — A group of Oregon Legislatures is calling for the resignation of Mike Niaman.

Niaman is currently facing two criminal charges in connection with opening the Capitol door, allowing protesters against the blockade to enter the closed building in December. Niaman faces one count of one illegal act and two criminal trespasses. Both are misdemeanors.

Oregon State Capitol Surveillance Video December 21 protest Niaman showed how to leave the building during a special legislative meeting to address COVID-19 related issues and allow right-wing protesters inside the building. Four people were arrested that day.

Once inside the building, protesters clashed with Oregon police soldiers, the video shows. Video surveillance outside the building Niaman has shown that he will walk around the Oregon State Capitol building and then re-enter.

Lisa Reynolds, a state legislature on the west side of Portland, joined AM Extras on Thursday to discuss the situation further.
