Fountain Inn, South Carolina (WSPA)-Texas barbecue in northern South Carolina. 7 News went to Fountain Inn and visited their own Tay and Sarah Nelson Bobby’s barbecue.
Couples run restaurants based on food, family recipes, and faith and love for people of all kinds.
Nelson grew up working at his father’s restaurant in Upstate, South Carolina, but said he was no longer making food or washing dishes when he grew up. Nelson said he made some for her because she was anxious for barbecue when his wife became pregnant.
Nelson said she absolutely loved it and they also fell in love when he started making it for colleagues and family. He and Sarah poured a lot of prayer and their savings into two 1000-pound obsolete propane tanks named Mercy and Grace.
The rice cooker helps Tay and Sara make pulled pork, brisket, roasted turkey, jackfruit, sausages and ribs. Sarah is in charge of the side, many of which are family recipes such as her mother Erie’s baked beans and bacon and cheese, macaroni and cheese, potato casserole, coleslaw, sweet potato crunch, and corn pudding.
Bobby’s BBQ is open Thursday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm and is located on North Main Street 1301 at Fountain Inn 29644.
