“I want my family to know that my loved ones haven’t been forgotten,” said Rebecca Espalza.

Corpus Christi, Texas — A light ritual of hope was held on Saturday night to honor cancer survivors, those fighting the disease, and premature cancer survivors.

“Many of these are childhood cancer patients, or grandmothers, grandfathers, dads, and moms, all of whom are too ill to find cures for different types of cancer,” said an American. Said Rebecca Espalza, a volunteer at. Cancer Association Cancer Action Network.

Espalza has put together a ceremony. The bag was lined with many faces, names, nearby people, and distant people.

“There are people here who were Virginia survivors and Washington family members,” Espalza said.

Here at Coastal Bend, many people are remembered, respected and supported.

“All bags represent a person in commemoration of or in honor of a caregiver who has fought or has cancer,” Espalza said.

Espalza says the ritual of light of hope usually takes place in Washington, DC

“I haven’t been able to go in the last few years, so working at home makes me feel like I’m not giving up on the fight. We’re still doing what we can and COVID isn’t going to stop us. “Espalza said.

Espalza is also a cancer survivor, and even if this ritual needs to be virtual, it’s still important for her to do it, she says.

“I want my family to know that my loved ones haven’t been forgotten,” Espalza said.
