Portland, Oregon (KOIN) – A cooling center will open in and around Portland this weekend as the city prepares for a second heat wave in a month.

Below is a list of cooling center locations and times.

Multnomah County

According to Multnomah County WebsiteFive cooling centers will open from noon to 9 pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

  • Multnomah County East Building – 600 NE 8th St., Gresham
  • Sunrise Center – 18901 E Burnside Street, Portland
  • Portland Building – 1120 SW 5th St., Portland
  • Matt Dishman Community Center – 77 NE Knott St., Portland
  • Charles Jordan Community Center – 9009 North Foss Avenue, Portland

Those who need to board the cooling center can call 211.

The city of Portland also has an outdoor mist center in the following parks from noon to 9 pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

  • Glen Haven Park
  • Mount Scott Park
  • Knot park

Due to the expected heat, the currently open libraries, with the exception of Kenton, will extend their business hours until 8 pm Thursday. Free water is available at all libraries in the county. Masks are needed everywhere. The next Multnomah County Library is open Thursdays until 8 pm and Fridays from 10 am to 6 pm.

  • Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center – 9985 SW 125th Ave., Beaverton
    • Open until 7pm on Thursdays and 7am to 7pm on Fridays.

    • Open Thursdays until 9pm and Fridays from 10am to 9pm.
