Fountain Inn, South Carolina (WSPA) – Community efforts have helped clean up the entire city of Fountain Inn on Saturday.

The Greenville County “Garbage Ends Here” initiative was supported with the Greer Public Works Commission and the South Carolina Guard (2nd Battalion). An environmental cleanup event began as local kayakers in the area noticed the glass and other materials around Lake Robinson.

During cleaning, the crew noticed a few pounds of glass, metal, and other debris, and some items date back to the 1950s.

“It’s dangerous because it’s glass. It’s also very close to rivers and lakes, and there are concerns about water quality because we want people to be aware of the negative effects of garbage on the area and drinking water,” said Alison Rauch of Greer CPW. I am.

Glia CPW takes water samples from Lake Robinson every two weeks to maintain safety requirements to ensure that drinking water meets DHEC standards.
