There was one good news while searching for the dead in Surfside, Florida. A cat named Binks, who lived on the 9th floor of a collapsed building, was alive and reunited with his family.
“We are pleased that this little miracle can bring light to the lives of today’s injured families and provide a bright spot for our entire community in the midst of this horrific tragedy,” said Daniella Levine, Mayor of Miami-Dade County. Cava told reporters. Friday press conference.
According to Levin Cava, volunteers feeding cats on the street recognized cats near the building and took them to an animal shelter, where they were clearly identified.
Gina Nicole Vlasek, co-founder of The Kitty Campus, a cat rescue group in Miami Beach, Post about Binx On Facebook. She wrote that the cat was taken to a shelter Thursday night after being found near the rubble.

Friday was “the most wonderful day,” she wrote. “Because one of the survivors came to see the cat, determined if it was a cat in her family, and it was!”
Levine Cava said the family and cat reunion took place on Friday, but authorities have not yet shared details about the family’s condition.
Meanwhile, a search team found another body in the rubble of the Champlain Towers South Condominium Building on Friday, with 79 confirmed deaths.
According to Levin Kava, there are 61 people who may not have been explained yet.
Officials announced on Wednesday that their mission was no longer officially searching for survivors, but to recover the dead. No one has been found alive since the early hours after the collapse on June 24th.
