Members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon. This will be the group’s first public briefing since July.

Washington — Members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force will be open to the public on Thursday afternoon due to the nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases.

A press conference scheduled at 4 pm Eastern Standard Time at the White House will be attended by Task Force members for the first time in a few months. Members of the Coronavirus Response Headquarters were last involved in a press conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in mid-July, according to White House online records.

It is unclear whether Vice President Mike Pence or President Donald Trump will attend the briefing on Thursday.

Coronavirus cases are on the rise again, with some states regaining restrictions aimed at stopping their spread. As the outbreak worsened, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention banned Americans from traveling for Thanksgiving.

According to Johns Hopkins University data, the United States passed 250,000 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday.

This week, there was some promising news that pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna reported preliminary results for a late-stage trial showing that vaccine candidates were nearly 95% effective.

Last Friday, Trump spoke publicly for the first time after losing to presidential election Joe Biden. Trump refused to admit. Instead, the president has pushed false allegations of fraudulent voting in major states, even though courts continue to reject his opposition.

More than two weeks after the November 3 elections, the Trump administration has stated that leaders from both parties are essential to enable Biden to effectively govern on the first day of the National Security and Pandemic Program. I refuse to allow Biden to receive a detailed explanation of this.
