Landpark residents play a leading role in holiday ballet

After nearly two years of virtual and outdoor performances, the Sack Civic Ballet and Dean Dance Center resume their long-standing tradition of performing two one-act holiday ballets live on the stage on December 18th and 19th. The Sack Civic Ballet Company is a well-established pre-professional ballet company founded by Barbara Crockett in 1946, and the Dean Dance Center is a local supervision of former San Francisco Ballet dancers Allison Dean and Don Schwensen. It is a dance school of.
Ana Konovalov, who lives in a local land park, dances the Snow Queen and Rose protagonists in the Nutcracker Suite, and the Dove protagonist and other roles in Noah’s Ark story. Anna is a junior at Christian Brothers High School and a graduate of the Holy Spirit Parochial School. She has been studying dance since she was three years old, and in the summer she studied with the Sacramento Ballet and the Boston Ballet. She is looking forward to performing live dance on stage again.
The story of Noah’s Ark is a part of Don Schwensen’s popular ballet. The Nutcracker Suite has familiar roles, beautiful sets and costumes, and Tchaikovsky’s mysterious music. The cast has more than 50 dances, including guest artists Macy Armendaris, Fiona Galvin and Davis Beer.
This year’s ballet will be unveiled at 7:00 pm on Saturday, December 18th and 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 19th at the Davis Veterans Memorial Center Theater, 203 E. 14th Street, 95616. Tickets are $ 20 for adults and $ 15 for seniors and children. Tickets at the door or at deanedancenter.com. For questions, please call 916-453-0226. A mask required for regular customers.
