Canonsburg (KDKA) — Both the Jewish Passover and Christian Holy Week begin this weekend.
Both are very religious times for religious people, but it is also the time for chocolate bunnies and sugar-filled peeps.
Americans spend about $ 2.5 billion on Easter-related candies each spring, and this year is no exception.
One of the most famous local producers of candy is Canonsburg’s Salis Candy.
In taping the Sunday Business Page with John Delano, the company’s president, Bill Salis, says that after a tough year, everyone is looking forward to a chocolate-filled spring.
“It’s time for the candy industry right now. It’s one of the biggest candy seasons of the year. Things are slowly improving … people are back at work,” said Bill Salis.
You can see the full interview with Bob Salis and John Delano on the Sunday Business page broadcast on KDKA-TV Sunday Morning News.
