Omaha, Nebraska (KMTV) — When it’s hard to see, it’s hard to be the best you are.
One Omaha organization is working to counter this by making vision care accessible to people experiencing poverty.
On the first Wednesday of every month Heart Ministry Center Monen Healthcare Clinic offers free vision and glaucoma screening in addition to the treatment of other vision problems.
Walk-ins are welcome and practitioners serve both children and adults.
“If you don’t see it properly, it’s pretty difficult to go to school or do other things, so many people in our community have enough money for food and basic needs. You may not have it, so when it comes to priorities, the vision isn’t necessarily one of them, so we’re very happy to be able to provide that resource to everyone who needs it. ” Mark Dahir, CEO of the Story Center, said.
The Heart Ministry Center will cover the cost of eyeglasses, contacts and prescriptions that may be needed.
The screening will take place Wednesday from 1 pm to 4 pm at 2222 Binney St.
