Tulsa, Oklahoma — When Green Country celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, a local food truck owner brings a taste of her Venezuelan culture to Tulsa.
If you’ve been to Pearl Beach Brew Pub, you’ve probably tried some tacos loco dishes.
Food trucks sell Arepa, one of Venezuela’s most iconic dishes.
Arepa is a corn-filled dish of grilled steak, cheese and the iconic Venezuelan stuffing.
The owner, Anna Rivas, lived in Venezuela for most of her life.
She launched Tacos Loco in almost a year, but moved to Tulsa six years ago in search of a better life for her family.
When she first arrived, she was working in another food truck business, when she decided to launch herself.
Many said she was crazy about starting a business in the midst of a pandemic, but she said she chased her dreams anyway.
“I believed in myself, and I said, now is the time. If this is an opportunity, now is the time, and I will pursue this dream. I have no regrets. It’s a big challenge, but it was okay, “Rivas said.
