Las Vegas (KTNV) — If you need a passport, you may run into some issues. There are major backlogs across the country and for now it will take months for you to get them.
People all over the country are finally able to take off to their dream destinations that they couldn’t go to last year. Some of us have revoked their passports while we are all trapped in our homes and cities. Others are trying to get it for the first time.
Due to the large amount of backlog caused primarily by pandemics, the Department of State is scrambling to handle millions of applications.
The Assistant Manager at PostalAnnex + Jessica Moore said: They and they told me that their earliest appointment was September. “
We are currently waiting for a new passport and a renewal passport for 18 weeks. If you’re trying to get something promoted and are willing to pay out extra cash, you can still wait up to 12 weeks. Moore says there are people who come every day for a passport.
“Unfortunately, some people want to get a passport within a few days. They will travel next week or two weeks. Unfortunately, there is currently no choice but due to government restrictions,” Moore says.
If you apply for a passport by mid-June, you may not know the change in waiting time. Brandyn Dente, who lives in Las Vegas, mailed his passport for renewal in mid-April. At that time, it was said to be 10 to 12 weeks. She called on July 1st after not getting a status update.
“I was on the phone for five and a half hours. I watched some movies. I finally talked to this guy. Fortunately, our time was 8:30, so they Hasn’t gone home yet. He said he can’t guarantee you get it, “Dente said.
Now it’s a waiting game to see if she can go to Cancun to celebrate the 50th birthday of her two friends on August 4th.
“My status is still the same. It says it’s in process. It hasn’t changed. I hope I can get it by 30 days. I paid an additional $ 77 for quick processing.”
If your passport is about to expire, we recommend that you renew your passport now. Countries can deny entry if the passport is valid for less than 6 months.
