Metairie — The Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation has announced the appointment of Jonathan Baynum as Secretary-General. Baynham has 10 years of experience in the education and non-profit sector.
LRAEF is the association’s workforce division, which includes an education program and a ProStart program. His new role is to manage the Foundation’s day-to-day operations, including setting goals and strategies, conducting and managing all operations, programs, and funding activities. His experience and background contributes to LRAEF by working with state and federal governments to establish vocational training and development programs and secure investment in the high school program ProStart.
Stan Harris, President and Chief Executive Officer of LRA, said: “As we continue to address the impact of COVID, it is an important need to develop and enhance employee skills.”
Before joining LRAEF, Baynham was Joe W. He was the program administrator for the Dorothy Brown Foundation and managed all educational programs from kindergarten to high school. He also has six years of teaching experience at the Earthlin Academy in New Orleans.
“We are excited to join the wonderful team of LRA and develop opportunities to explore culinary careers for high school students in the state. Hospitality is a major economic driver for the entire state and students are the workforce. Make sure you’re ready when you enter, “says Baynham.
Originally from Louisiana, Baynum holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Spring Hill College and a Master’s degree in Theology from Vanderbilt University.
