LSU CB Derek Stingley Jr. named to Walter Camp watch list, his fifth watch list for 2021 | LSU – New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans, Louisiana 2021-07-30 14:26:00 –

According to the standards he set for 2019, LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. Celebrated the off-year in 2020.

He missed the opening match against Mississippi after becoming “acute ill” the night before the match. He had only 27 tackles and did not record a pass cut after choosing 6 passes on the drive to the Tigers National Championship.

But there is no doubt that Stingray is expected to enter the junior season. A scan of the college football pre-season award watchlist shows that Stingray is considered one of the best players in the country.

Stingray created a fifth watchlist on Friday. He was one of the 35 players on the Walter Camp award list, including the Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Awards, which are awarded annually to the best players in the United States.

Stingray has also created a watchlist for the Bednaric Award (Defensive Player of the Year), Jim Thorpe Award (Best Defensive Back), Bronconaguruski Award (Best Defensive Player), and Paul Honing Award (Most Versatile Player).

The only award watchlist that Stingley was eligible for and did not create was the Maxwell Awards list. LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte made it. There is no pre-season watchlist for the Heisman Trophy.

LSU players created 12 of the 13 pre-season watchlists, but only missed the Reigai Awards (Best Panther) watchlist.

The Tigers will open their season against UCLA on September 4th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

After astonishing LSU fans by playing in the cornerback, Derek Stingley Jr. may win a wide snap as a punt returner for the last two seasons …
