The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has signed a civil contract with private construction company JSM Construction Group for S $ 34.3 million for the next Hume station on the Downtown Line.

A station box with basic structural equipment was previously built for Hume station. The LTA said in a press statement Thursday that the new contract covers station entrances, ventilation towers, and garment work.

JSM Construction will carry out a wide range of installation work, including construction, plumbing, and hygiene requirements, to adapt underground stations to operational stations. According to the LTA, most of these tasks are only performed when the operator is not performing maintenance work after the train has stopped operating.

Hume Station is located on Upper Bukit Timah Road between Hillview Station and Beauty World Station and is scheduled to open in 2025. It is expected to provide more convenient access to the railroad corridor (center) and the Former Ford Factory for the general public. In addition to servicing existing housing development along Hume Avenue.

In addition to civil engineering work, Hume Station requires the installation and testing of railway systems and electrical and mechanical (E & M) services. LTA awarded such an E & M service contract later this quarter, saying the rail system will be sourced from an existing contractor that previously supplied the downtown line.

Tests will also be conducted before the installation work is completed and the station is open for passenger service.

LTA emphasized the company’s “widespread” experience in the construction sector, including refurbishment of MRT stations, and stated that JSM Construction is in the process of adding and modifying Pasirlis Station along the Tozai Line. ..

The company had previously been working on providing an additional platform at Choa Chu Kang MRT / LRT station, adding transportation authorities.
