The Patriots and Texans have the same record (1-3), but two different teams.
New England seems to be heading somewhere after almost defeating Tom Brady and the Buccaneers next week.
Meanwhile, Houston …

Old friend Burkehead Amendora is not available in Houston — 11:49 AM
There is no Rex Burkhead or Danny Amendola. And Marcus Cannon is on the injured list. That’s it for the reunion with some old faces. (Interestingly, given Patriots’ current health problems, if they were with Pat, the three could have found a spot in the New England lineup this afternoon.) Blanc Din Cooks and Kamgurgie Hill will be lined up by former New Englanders in Houston this afternoon.
Ramondole Stephenson among the Patriots activists — 11:35 am
The following players are listed as inactive by the Patriots in this week’s match against the Texans.
Cornerback Jalen Mills does not play. The veteran has started the first four games of his career at the Patriots and has 12 tackles, but sits down due to hamstring issues. Jonathan Jones should see enough time in his absence. The week they traded with Stephon Gilmore and saw the cornerback pair excluded at the beginning of the week was a rough few days for New England’s defensive back.
Tight end Devin Asiasi is a healthy scratch for the fifth straight week towards the start of the season. This should mean a lot of work for veteran Hunter Henry and Johnne Smith.
Guard Shaquille Mason, one of New England’s most rugged members of the attack line, was excluded early in the week because the team calls it an abdominal problem. The Patriots have several possibilities, but they will rely on Ted Karras and the recently promoted James Ferentz to try to strengthen the interior of the attack line.
Cornerback Shaun Wade was also excluded at the beginning of the week. The Patriots are accustomed to not having him in the lineup, at least at this point, as Wade has had a hard time seeing the field since he first arrived in trade with Ravens this summer. Williams, who was a healthy scratch against the Bucks in the fourth week with Wade and Mills out, will make a lot of runs against the Texans this afternoon.
Rookie linebacker Ronnie Perkins (ankle) was actually restricted this week and was downgraded at the beginning of the week. The young man hasn’t made his NFL debut yet, and as I said before, he could head for the rookie redshirt season.
JJ Taylor’s running back is a healthy scratch for the Patriots. (Maybe related to fumble against Bucks last week.) This is the work of rookie Ramondless Stevenson, who struggled with the opener with Dolphins and has made three consecutive healthy scratches since then. May mean. This could be a great opportunity to withdraw from Oklahoma. See if he can take advantage of that opportunity.
It’s interesting to see Jamie Collins return to the fight in the first week of returning to Foxborough. It will be interesting to see how much he plays on his return.
For the record, aggressive tackle Trent Brown was put on the IR earlier this week with a calf injury, so he will go out for a foreseeable future.
Belichick’s Text Coke — 11:30 am
The fraternity of New England coaches is pretty close — Bill Belichick has been a big supporter of people like Brad Stevens, Dock Rivers, Terry Francona and more for years. Still, it’s pretty cool.
