Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – Make a Wish New Mexico Create life-changing wishes for children with serious illness. Every child deserves childhood, so they try to fulfill the wishes of every qualified child. Since partnering with Make A Wish New Mexico in 2016, Albuquerque’s Jersey Mikes has raised over $ 95,000 to fulfill 10 life-changing wishes. One of those wishes was in Tanner Stricker. Tanner and her mother, Misty, discussed how Make a Wish’s New Mexico helped Tanner fight cancer.
Tanner Tricker was diagnosed with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). “It grows polyps throughout my colon or stomach, and those polyps can eventually develop into cancer,” Stricker says.
One of Tanner’s wishes was to go deep-sea fishing in Hawaii. During his medical journey, Make a Wish New Mexico was able to help him and his family experience the hope and joy of his wishes. Tanner made wishes, surfing, swimming with dolphins, and doing sport fishing. “My favorite part was probably deep-sea fishing because I was able to see and swim with the whale sharks. I’m really lucky.”
On Wednesday, March 31, the community will be encouraged to head to Jersey Mikes. There, all the dollars spent on sale go to Make A Wish New Mexico. It’s all part of Jersey Mike’s 11th year nationwide Giving day..
