Police on the Big Island of Hawaii found an unconscious 87-year-old man among pedestrians seated on a driveway and arrested him in the Puna murder case.
According to Hawaiian police, Puna patrol officers were informed that a man sitting in a wheelchair on Kawakawa Street in Hawaiian Beaches was bleeding from his neck.
When police arrived, they saw a man identified as Pahoa’s 87-year-old Charles Hacker conscious and bleeding from a laceration in his neck. He was sitting on a pedestrian with a seat on the driveway.
The hacker was transferred to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was sentenced to death.
An investigation is underway, but a 33-year-old man identified as a neighbor has been arrested and currently detained on suspicion of a second murder.
Police are still in the area until the investigation warrant is executed at the hacker’s residence. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the exact cause of his death.
