High Point, NC (WGHP) —A high point man has been accused of killing his girlfriend and carrying her body to Tennessee for disposal, according to a news release from High Point police.
Michael Lewis Cadogan, 24, has been charged with a single murder, concealment of death, and tampering with a corpse.
Officers were called to the 3942-2E Pallas Way on Monday at 12:41 pm to check high point Janna Rose Delgado, 19, after receiving information that Delgado had been assaulted.
As a result of the investigation, Cadogan was identified as a suspect.
According to a court document in Carter County, Tennessee, Cadogan contacted a friend in Tennessee and admitted that he needed to strangle Delgado during a quarrel and help dispose of Delgado’s body and car.
A friend went to the Kingsport police station to report the murder.
On a subsequent phone call between Cadogan and his friend, Lieutenant Kingsport listened while his friend was at the police station.
During the call, a friend met Cadogan at Fish Springs Marina in Carter County and agreed to put Delgado’s body and car on Lake Watauga.
A deputy Sheriff of Carter County found and stopped Cadogan, who was driving a Delgado car, near the marina.
Delgado’s body was found in the car.
Cadogan is detained unrestrained in Tennessee.
No details have been released regarding the possibility of his delivery to North Carolina.
According to a High Point police investigation report, Delgado was a student at High Point University.
High Point University has sent the following letter to the HPU community:
Dear HPU family members,
The entire High Point University family is very sad to learn that student Janna Delgado has recently died. The HPU community shows sadness and sympathy for her friends and family.
The university learned that a non-campus student died after police were investigating the possibility of domestic violence in a private, unaffiliated apartment complex in North High Point. The suspect is being detained by the police, not the student. There is no record of the suspect visiting the campus.
The health and safety of the campus community is a top priority for HPU. Our counseling and student life team is located on the 3rd floor of the Slane Student Center and can be used to assist students in need on campus. Remotely.. President Kubain also contacted the Delgado family to provide HPU prayer, support, and support during this difficult time.
