Man arrested after allegedly shooting, killing hunter in Dolores County – Denver, Colorado

Dolores County, Colorado — A hunter was shot dead in Dolores County on Friday, and authorities arrested a man for manslaughter.

At around 10:48 am on Friday, authorities responded to reports of hunters shot dead on Forest Department Road 535 (also known as Danton Road) at Kilpacker Trailhead, according to the Dolores County Sheriff’s Office.

The hunter was identified as a 31-year-old Gregory Gabrish from Houston, Texas. According to the sheriff’s office, he died from an injury.

Authorities have identified the man who allegedly shot Gabrish as Ronald J. Morosco of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania. According to the sheriff’s office, he was arrested for manslaughter and taken to Montezuma County Jail.

Among several agencies, Dolores County Coroner and Colorado Investigation Bureau responded to the scene.

No details were available as to what led to the firing.

This case is under investigation.
