Charleston, South Carolina (WCBD) – A man was arrested on suspicion of igniting a wooden cross outside a church in downtown Charleston.
Authorities have charged Charleston’s Tyhier Lasan Grant, 28, with one arson three times and one malicious injury to a place of worship.
The vandalism took place at the Eastside Missionary Baptist Church on Meeting Street around 4:20 am on October 23. According to Charleston police, police officers patrolling the area saw a wooden cross burning in front of the church.
The Charleston Fire Department put out a small fire and was not injured. Detectives and crime scene technicians investigated the case.
