Wichita, Kang (KSNW) —Byron Purcell (25) appeared in court on Tuesday, October 19th. Shooting an 11-year-old Wichita girl on a drive-by shooting.. Police arrested Purcell on Thursday, October 14.
Purcell was charged in Sedgwick County Court of Justice for the criminal release of firearms into the occupied dwellings, causing serious physical harm, worsening batteries, and criminal possession of firearms for felony.
Wichita police said the girl was at home and sleeping in bed when she was shot. McKeira had surgery and was hospitalized as of Thursday, October 14th.
“She is in bed and feels a lot of pain. It takes about 45 minutes to get out of bed just by going to the bathroom,” McKeira’s mother told KSN.
Purcell will return to court on November 1. His deposit is set at $ 250,000.
