Man convicted in crash that killed two Hiram College students dies in prison – Cleveland, Ohio

Burton, Ohio (WJW) – A man sentenced to imprisonment for killing two Hiram College students in 2006 died FOX 8 I-Team Have learned.

Geauga County Prosecutor Jim Flaiz said I-Team James Cline died on Friday morning. A spokesman for the Ohio Rehabilitation and Corrections Bureau said he was at the Franklin Medical Center, apparently due to natural causes.

Klein, 63, was sentenced to 38 years in prison for killing two Hiram University students and seriously injuring another in a crash on March 2, 2006.

At the time, officials said Klein had fled Burton police on State Highway 700 when he crashed a pickup truck into Dodge Shadow carrying three college students.

Dodge Shadow driver Andrew Hopkins, 18, and passenger seat passenger Grace Chamberlain, 18, have died.

Rhode Island passenger Evan Da Silva, 19, survived.

Klein was convicted of drunk driving 11 times before the crash.
