Man dies after car catches fire in wrong-way crash near Durango, Gowan – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas (KLAS) — A 26-year-old man who crashed in the northwestern part of the Las Vegas Valley died early Tuesday morning.

It occurred at N. Durango Drive near Gowan Road at around 12:48 am.

Police say the Toyota RAV4 was driving south in the central south-bound Durango. When the Toyota Camry collided with the median strip near Majestic Valley Avenue, it went north on Durango and continued on the wrong path before leaving the road at Gowan.

The Camry then returned to Durango, heading north in the southbound lane and hitting the front of the RAV4, police said.

According to police, both vehicles spun and the Camry ignited. The 26-year-old Camry driver couldn’t get out of the car. His death marks the 73rd traffic-related death in the 2021 LVMPD jurisdiction.

The 44-year-old driver of the RAV4 was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
