Cherokee, South Carolina (WSPA) – A man drowned in a private lake in Cherokee County late Thursday afternoon.
According to the Coroners Office in Cherokee County, the victims and friends were on a private lake on Wild Turkey Drive away from Myrtle Drive after 6 pm when the drowning occurred.
Coroners said the victim, Quintin Jammer Prichett of Spartanberg, jumped into 8 to 10 feet of water from a docked pontoon boat.
According to the coroner, Prichett surfaced and sought help, but a friend who rushed to the lake could not save him.
The CKC fire department crew was able to retrieve Prichette’s body shortly after 7:30 pm.
The autopsy will be done as part of his death investigation, the coroner said.
