The Adams County District Law Office says 44-year-old Brian Kirby was sentenced on Friday. The jury found Kirby guilty in July. He was also convicted of reckless manslaughter and left the scene of the accident to death.

Kirby was accused of driving on the highway near Denver at 167 mph (269 kph) at night in October 2018 and commented on his speed to viewers. Finally, the prosecutor said he quickly crossed from the left lane to the right and collided with a sedan from behind at 120 mph (192 km).

Kirby escaped from the crash. The sedan driver died on the scene.

“Mr. Kirby’s rude and reckless actions killed him and destroyed his family,” district attorney Brian Mason said in a statement.
