ST. Lewis County, Missouri (KMOV.com)-A man accused of being raped in St. Louis County in 1989 was charged with evidence of DNA.
According to police, on September 30, 1989, a 29-year-old woman was caught by a suspect while walking to work at 2200 blocks on Hudson Road at 4 am. He fixed her to the ground, hit her head, and raped, a statement of possible cause states. The woman did not know the suspect, so she immediately called the police.
Evidence of the case was resubmitted and a CODIS hit identified the suspect in 2019. Quincy Smith, 49, has been charged with rape in this case. Smith’s DNA was in the victim’s underwear. At the time of the rape, Smith was 18 years old.
On Wednesday, May 26, a grand jury in St. Louis charged Smith with forced rape.
“This accusation is just an allegation and the defendant is presumed not guilty until proved guilty, but I hope this sends a message to the predators. This victim is thirty years old. We are still willing to help us seek justice. ” St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell.
Smith was detained by the United States Marshals Service on April 28. He is bound by a $ 50,000 deposit.
