Berthoud, Colorado — A man and a member of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office fought a gun battle on Wednesday night while responding to a call from a suspected drunk driver.
Lawmakers responded to a call from a suspected drunk driver on Second Street and Welch’s Avenue in Barsword around 10 pm Wednesday. Within about 10 minutes, both the suspect and lawmakers, later identified as Eric Daniel Rocker, 52, fired at each other, according to a critical incident response team in the 8th Judicial District.
Locker was taken to the Rockies Medical Center for treatment for a potentially life-threatening injury. The legislator was not injured.
After being released from the hospital, Locker was booked in Larimar County Prison on charges of one attempted murder, four intimidations, bail bondsman breach, weapons ban, drunk driving and duty. .. Report an attack on an unmanned vehicle or property.
The 8th Judicial District CIRT handles cases with the Labrand Police Department as the main body.
