Denver — Colorado Men Sentenced for more than 9 years In a federal prison that assaulted an ATF special agent.

On April 9, 2021, police officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department and agents from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Authority (ATF) attempted to arrest 24-year-old Dallas Michael Tyce at a Seven-Eleven store.

ATF agents surrounded the blue Nissan sedan in Tais by moving police vehicles behind and to the side of Nissan. Theiss tried to reverse his car and escape, but was blocked by an ATF vehicle.

Theiss then accelerated forward, jumping on the curb and landing on the sidewalk in front of Seven-Eleven. An ATF special agent was standing near the doorway and was able to get out of the way.

The agent shot the windshield of the car and the window on the driver’s side. Theiss hit a special agent on the leg and then drove away.

After a brief chase, Tyce barricaded to Colorado Springs’ home for about two hours and was subsequently detained.

During a subsequent search for the vehicle, authorities found two firearms.

In this case, a judicial transaction was completed. On November 19, Judge Philip A. Brimar of the US District Court sentenced Tyce to 110 months in federal prison and then released him under three years of surveillance.

“This case represents a heroic act that federal law enforcement officers do every day to keep us safe,” said Matt Kirsh, a US attorney-at-law. “Taking a violent criminal off the street is a risky business and we are grateful that no one was killed in this case.”

“We are fortunate that the injuries our agents suffered were not fatal. With their extraordinary courage and professionalism in the face of imminent danger, this violent criminal can harm anyone. “I was detained without any,” said David Booth, ATF Special Agent. “We praised the success of the US law firm in this case, thereby eliminating violent criminals from our community.”
