Durham, North Carolina (AP) — North Carolina police say the man is still in jeopardy after shooting Friday at a shopper-filled shopping mall the day after Thanksgiving.
Durham police said on Saturday that investigators continued to investigate the case on the streets of South Point.
The shooting also injured a 10-year-old child and another man. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police said they had not been charged as of Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, according to The News & Observer, the mall reopened on Saturday at 11:00 am.
According to police, the shooting took place during an apparent battle between the two groups. Bystanders described “group hysteria” on one of the busiest shopping days of the year as shoppers sneaked into stores for covers and ran to exits.
According to police, three more people were injured when shoppers rushed to the exit after the shooting. In a news release, police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
Police said those involved in the fight that led to the shooting fled, but vowed to arrest more.
