Colorado Springs, Colorado — A man was arrested after police said he had strangled and attempted to use an assault rifle to kill victims and neighbors.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), police officers were called to Block 6700 on Monterber Drive around 1 am on Saturday after receiving several calls from neighbors who heard the gunshots.

When police arrived, they found John Lot, 34, outside the place where he had a gunshot wound on his face.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Lot was involved in domestic violence, during which time he unknowingly strangled the victims several times.

After the victims regained consciousness, they fled to a nearby neighbor’s house for help. Lot fired at his neighbor’s house with a shotgun when his neighbor allowed the victim to enter his residence.

Lot then recovered the AR-15 rifle and continued firing at his neighbor’s house. Lot tried to enter the house illegally while armed with the AR-15 after firing at the house many times.

By that time, the owner of the dwelling was armed with firearms, and when he saw Lot trying to enter his dwelling, he fired a round and hit the suspect’s face.

Lot was detained and taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Victims of the first turmoil were also taken to a local hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

DVASA was notified and responded to assist in the investigation.
