Topeka, Kansas (AP) —The Supreme Court of Kansas states that after beating a woman in Ottawa, the man who killed her does not need to be registered as a sex offender.
Korrey Raine White Rinke was sentenced to life imprisonment in December 2019, potentially released in 25 years, due to the 2016 death of Juliana Pappas in Overland Park.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender. On Friday, the State Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling, stating that Linke did not need to be registered as a sex offender.
The court said the prosecutor did not prove beyond reasonable suspicion that Linke had kidnapped and killed Papas for sexual satisfaction.
