West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin currently has no plans to leave the Democratic Party.
Matin Told reporters At Capitol Hill on Thursday, he offered to be independent if he was the “embarrassment” of the party.
“I said I’m a moderate centrist Democrat. If that causes problems for you, let me know, and I’ll switch independently, but I still have a causal relationship with Democrats “I will.” Manchin said.
Manchin said no one accepted his offer.
Senator commented following a report saying he was considering leaving the Democratic Party if his terms did not meet the spending bill.
Manchin denied the report using abusive language.
West Virginia Senator has repeatedly clashed with his role over spending and climate change proposals.
But the Democratic Party needs his vote to get the agenda through Congress. The Senate will be split 50-50 and Vice President Kamala Harris will vote for a tiebreaker.
