Youth Center

The CAB has decided to approve negotiations with the Oklahoma County Boys & Girls Club as operating partners for four youth centers to be built through the MAPS4 sales tax.

Oklahoma County’s Boys & Girls Club operates 15 clubs in the county, offering a wealth of experience serving metropolitan and later youth. With programming focused on strengthening education and choosing a healthy lifestyle, this organization seems to be suitable for planned youth centers.

According to MAPS Program Manager David Todd, site selection for the physical location of the new center will begin in about six months.

Henrietta B. Foster Center

The CAB also voted to approve negotiations with the Metro Technology Center to become the operating partner of the Henrietta B. Foster Center.

The MAPS 4 project aims to invest $ 15 million in the center to become the Henrietta B. Foster Center for Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship in the Northeast.

MetroTech has put together a successful bid as a comprehensive organization where several other organizations can apply their expertise to programming in the newly refurbished center.

Transit improvements

The CAB voted to recommend a resolution approving the purchase of land for EMBARK as part of the MAPS 4 Transit Planned Growth package.

The land in question is next to EMBARK’s current headquarters in southwestern May and south May. The deal, which EMBARK has been preparing for several years, will ultimately advance the necessary expansion to the campus just west of the Oklahoma City Stockyard. This provides additional space for maintenance and training, as well as space for future Bus Rapid Transit system needs.

The estimated cost of land acquisition and related real estate costs is $ 1,695,000.

engineering service

Kimley-Horn and Associates participated in several items on the CAB agenda on Thursday.

The company plans to contract engineering services for several MAPS4 projects over the next few years.

In particular, on Thursday, the company was recommended for services related to transit planning growth, and master plan development for neighborhood and community park and neighborhood connectivity.

City regeneration

The CAB has decided to approve the transfer of $ 5 million to the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority to purchase and improve land on Martin Luther King Avenue in the northeast corner of District 23 and District 7. .. This move is part of a MAPS beautification project. 4.4.

Urban redevelopment oversees the purification and beautification of parcels.

Arena seats

New seats are coming to the Downtown Arena, now known as the Paycon Center.

The Irwin Seating Company has begun a successful bid to replace seats in the arena. The contract amount is $ 3,100,051.18.

This is the first construction contract recommended by the CAB and is an auspicious signal that the CAB’s workload will begin to increase significantly in the coming months.

MAPS Program Manager David Todd said staff would not have to close the arena to install new seats, and seats would be phased out in both the lower and upper bowls of the arena.

The next meeting of the MAPS 4 CAB will be on June 2nd at 10:30 am.
