Portland, Oregon (KOIN) —Protests in Portland will continue on Saturday night, with a direct action planned in South Portland entitled “Solidarity March in Honor of Those Who Died Under ICE Control.”

According to online Black Lives Matter Event calendarThe event will take place at Willamette Park near S Nebraska Street and S Macadam Avenue. Participants will meet at 6:30 pm and depart at 7:30 pm. The event organizer is listed as Safe PDX Protest.

PDX Women’s Rally in progress at Terry Schrunk Plaza

Like many direct-action events in Portland, the march destinations are not listed. However, the Immigration and Customs Office building is located more than a mile north of Willamet Park and has been a frequent march destination in the region in the past.

Last Saturday, PDX Women’s March was held at Terry Shrunk Plaza, in line with many other women’s marches across the country.

Group against gentrification march in North Portland

On Friday, groups opposed to gentrification gathered in North Portland and marched in solidarity with homes near N Mississippi Avenue and N Albina Avenue to protest the eviction. More than 50 people did sit-in demonstrations to help their families say they were facing an imminent eviction.
