McColl, South Carolina (WBTW) -Marlboro County lawmakers arrested a man on suspicion of drugs after a follow-up and investigation in McColl, according to the Marlboro County Security Officer’s Office.
Christopher O’Brien Oxendin, 29, was arrested and charged with methamphetamine distribution and methamphetamine distribution near the school.
According to the sheriff’s office, Oxendin was arrested after his masked drug investigation for selling stimulants from his home on Ford Street in McCall. Oxendin and an unnamed co-defendant allegedly attempted to escape law enforcement by leading them to high-speed pursuit.
Lawmakers said the vehicle eventually stopped and Oxendin walked through the woods towards North Carolina. According to the sheriff’s office, he was eventually arrested in North Carolina, near the South Carolina border.
Oxendin was taken to a Scottish County Detention Center in North Carolina, where he was charged with other charges. According to his agent, when North Carolina’s charges are resolved, he will be handed over to South Carolina on drug charges.
Investigations are underway and lawmakers are expected to be arrested further in the coming weeks.
