Miami Marlins left-handed Trevor Rogers has returned from the 10-day injured list before pitching in a match against the New York Yankees on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Rogers overcame a back cramp and only missed the 10 games he needed while at IL. In his first full season in Major League Baseball, Rogers was 7-6 at 2.37 ERA, representing the Marlins in the All-Star Game.
In another move before the match on Saturday, the Yankees also added the newly acquired catcher Alex Jackson to the active roster. Jackson, whose draft was chosen by the Seattle Mariners in the sixth round in 2014, was acquired by the Atlanta Braves on Friday.
Corresponding roster movements included assigning right-handed Preston Guilmet to the assignment, and right-handed Jordan Holloway was optionally elected to Triple A Jackson Building.
