Masks return, employees must vaccinate – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kansas 2021-10-22 14:02:25 –

Wichita, Kang (KSNW) — Wichita State University said on Friday: President Joe Biden’s Executive Order on COVID-19 Vaccine You will need to change schools.

The President’s Order for Federal Contractors requires the implementation of specific COVID security protocols and procedures. WSU, like any other University of Kansas, is a qualifying federal contractor and must comply with orders.

The changes in WSU are:

  • All employees (part-time, full-time, and student employees) must be fully vaccinated by December 8 unless they are eligible for a medical or religious exemption.
  • Everyone on campus (employees, students, visitors) must wear a valid mask on Monday, October 25, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Everyone on campus (employees, students, visitors), regardless of vaccination status, must be physically distanced to the extent required by Executive Order.

In the WSU website update, WSU President Rick Muma has made some points.

Vaccine obligations apply to employees working remotely as long as they are working on or related to the applicable contract.

Unvaccinated employees should immediately receive their first vaccination so that they can complete the vaccine series by December 8.

Muma said observance of mandates is a condition of employment. From December 8th, employees who have not been vaccinated and have not been exempted from tax will be banned from working. Further violations can lead to dismissal.

WSU assesses whether employees of WSU affiliates (WSU Athletics, WSU Union Corp, WSU Foundation, WSU Alumni Association, etc.) need to comply with vaccine obligations. However, the vaccine requirements apply to WSU employees working at WSU’s affiliated facilities.

All WSU students, faculty and staff can receive the vaccine free of charge through student medical services.
