Masks still recommended as Clark County still at ‘high’ COVID-19 community level – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas (KLAS) — COVID-19, Clark County Community level remains “high” — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, masks are still recommended indoors in public places.

The numbers released Thursday show that the situation improved in Nye County, where most of the cases came from Pahrump. The community level in Nye County has dropped to “medium”.

The CDC shows a decrease in cases in Clark County, but a slight increase in hospitalizations. The county reached “high” community level on June 9th, two weeks ago.

Here are the numbers posted by the CDC, along with a comparison with last week’s levels:

  • Case rate per 100,000 population: 238.36 (decreased from 312.92)
  • New COVID-19 hospitalization per 100,000 population: 14.3 (increased from 14.1)
  • Percentage of beds used by COVID-19 patients: 5.7% (up from 5.5%)

Hospitals are not burdened by COVID-19 patients, but it is the increased hospitalization that keeps the county at a “high” community level.
