Massachusetts-based insurer opens office in Omaha – Omaha, Nebraska

Omaha, Nebraska (Nebraska Examiner) — Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co. has selected Omaha as the place to open a company’s non-business office outside Massachusetts for the first time in 130 years.

18135 Burke St.’s 5,000-square-foot space is occupied by approximately 20 employees working on a hybrid schedule.

Executive Vice President Jennifer Helms praised Omaha’s focus on insurance, finance and technology. Several Boston Mutual employees are already based in Omaha, and Helms said physical office space is a key component of the insurer’s plans to expand its presence and grow nationwide. ..

“As we evolved into a long-term strategic plan and focused on customer and market needs, we saw an opportunity to increase our presence outside Massachusetts,” Helms said. “Omaha was an easy choice.”

The CompanyFounded in 1891 and based in Canton, Massachusetts, provides national insurance to working Americans and offers workplace registration and billing options.

Leaders described the new Omaha Space as an “Innovation Lab and Strategic Project Management Office.”

“We have a dedicated team of professionals whose primary responsibility is to help organizations find opportunities and solve challenges in new, transformative and innovative ways,” said Helms.

Paul Quaranto Jr., Chairman, CEO and President of Boston Mutual, said the opening was “a key element of our business diversification initiative.”
