Boston (CBS) — Health officials reported 2,991 newly confirmed COVID cases and 19 additional deaths in Massachusetts on Saturday.
The 2,991 new cases reported on Saturday are the second highest daily total in Massachusetts to date. The highest number was 3,079 on April 23.
Health officials said the total number of confirmed cases in the state is currently 197,329 and the total number of deaths is 10,257.
There are an estimated 37,328 active cases in Massachusetts.
The 7-day weighted average of the Massachusetts positive test is 3.21%.
As of Saturday, 891 people are currently hospitalized for coronavirus-related illnesses, a decrease of 13 from Friday. There are 187 patients currently in the intensive care unit.
A total of 109,239 new tests were reported on Saturday.
