Maximum of 4 people will be randomly selected each day from Nashville’s vaccine ‘Standby List’ – Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee

Nashville, Tennessee (WTVF) — If you are not currently eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in Nashville, you can now add it to what Metro Nashville Public Health calls a standby list.

“Anyone can subscribe to this standby list,” said Brian Todd, a spokeswoman for MetroPublicHealth.

The odds are slightly better, but being selected by Metro Public Health from the standby vaccine list is like winning the lottery. Only a few people “win” each day, and thousands will compete for them.

“We pick four names from that standby list and give them to them,” Todd said. “One day we may not have a dose available, one day we may have as many as four doses.”

Metro started the program this week. The remaining doses that cannot be returned to the freezer may be available and you do not want to waste them. “We’ve been thinking about ways to avoid wasting a single COVID vaccine,” Todd said.

To sign up, you need to send an email with your name and phone number to COVID19VaccineStandby@Nashville.gov.

It’s a different picture every day. “Then, if you delete the entire mailing list, you’ll start over the next day,” Todd said.

One of the conditions is that you need to be able to reach the Five Point clinic in just 30 minutes. This is clearly a disadvantage for those who work inflexibly or who do not have their own mode of transportation.

Brian Todd answered that point. “Not so many. As vaccines grow, we’ll start offering this more extensively, but at least for now, I feel it’s a good way to weaponize it, but it’s not. Go to waste. Please. “

Until improved access to the vaccine, it is the priority group and the lucky few to win the award for immunity. “No one knows when we will arrive that day, but I can tell you-when we do, I will be a happy person,” Todd says. I did.

It’s important to note-the standby list is different from the vaccine waiting list for seniors over the age of 75. Anyone who wants to sign up for that list can click here to sign up. Visit ASafeNashville.org
