Kansas City, Missouri — Medical marijuana went on sale on Saturday in Missouri.
Nearly 200 clinics are state-licensed and will be operational by the end of the year, according to a news release.
“While working on the Missouri Medical Marijuana Program, Missouri patients have always been our North Star,” said Dr. Randall Williams, director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, in a release. .. “We are very grateful for how hard everyone has worked so that patients can begin to access safe and well-regulated programs.”
Lindor Flaker, director of the Medical Marijuana Regulations section, said “a tremendous amount of work” had been done to bring Missouri to this point.
“We continue to hear from more facilities that the start-up test is ready or nearly ready,” says Fraker. “We look forward to these facilities opening their doors to serve patients and caregivers.”
