MAccording to a new report, Edica Repertoire D spent more than twice as much prescription drugs as the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2017. This was primarily due to the fact that institutions representing veterans were able to negotiate prices directly with pharmaceutical companies.
Specifically, VA paid an average of 54% less than the Medicare program for 399 branded and generic drugs, even after accounting rebates and other price discounts. Of these medicines, VA paid 68% for 203 generics and 49% for 196 branded medicines.
