Memorial Day preparations underway at cemeteries – Wichita, Kansas

Hesston, Kansas (KSNW) – Memorial Day preparations were underway in Hesston on Friday morning.

Community members worked to flag the tombs of 90 veterans. It is a tradition 31 years ago.

One woman says veterans are grateful for the gesture.

Jenine Hoheisel, Secretary-General of the Heston Veterans Commission, said:

On the anniversary, Heston raises 79 flags around the graveyard. Some were donated by her family’s funeral.
