Ohio Mentor (WJW) — Ohio Elementary School Teacher Mentor The ducks were lined up by demonstrating to the students the importance of caring for animals in nature.

A few weeks ago, I saw a mother duck nesting in the courtyard of Ridge Elementary School and a freshman Emily Kowalski sitting on an egg and sat in the front row of a science class.

On Tuesday morning, the class came to school and found a duck mother with 10 hatched ducks!

“My mom’s instincts started and I had to get rid of them,” Kowalski said. “I asked Lake Metropark Penitentiary Glen for advice. They told me to take them out because they needed a water source.”

There she led the ducks from the closed courtyard to the school building with the help of a team of first-year kindergarten teachers and daughters.

“Then we led them into our first grade corridor and went out the door so they were free and not stuck,” she said. “It was the most heartwarming experience.”
