Clayton, Georgia (CBS46)-Elementary schools in Clayton County are returning to virtual learning after receiving reports of COVID-19 cases at school.
According to the press release, Harper Elementary School students will effectively take classes for a “cluster of COVID-19 cases” within the school. Officials said the classes would remain virtual for the rest of the school year.
Part of the school district’s statement states: “The school district follows the safety protocols of the school system to disinfect school classrooms and other potentially affected areas, and the Clayton County Health Department.”
School officials said the district will continue to make decision to open schools on a case-by-case basis using federal, state, and local health guidance.
The decision to move classes to virtual learning is given to students by schools in Clayton County Callaway Elementary Virtually attend classes. Callaway Elementary School conducted virtual learning after staff tested positive for COVID-19.
